DIY Gemini Wood Fort/ Swingset  Plans

Use my do-it-yourself plans to make this cool fort/ swingset and beyond!

My Endeavor do-it-yourself wood fort/ swingset plan is featured in a Better Homes and Garden DIY book called, "Playsets". This design is also featured on the cover of the book. In the book, they refer to it as "Fort Frolic". I would have never come up with frolic!

I have to admit, it sounds fun! In your search for a good set of plans, keep in mind, you won't find another set of plans endorsed by Better Homes and Garden.

There are several options for do-it-yourself swing set/fort plans on the internet. As a consumer be aware of what you buy. Most are from well known companies that teach you how to make a safe fort/swing set combination. These professional companies utilize information taken from the Consumer Product Safety Commission Playground Safety Handbook. While it's geared mainly to commercial equipment, it does have  recommended guidelines for a safe playground for residential use.

Home made play systems, although designed with the best intentions, are made with entrapment areas, exposed bolts, inferior hardware, or are just plain under engineered. All of my designs voluntarily meet or exceed all safety standards set forth by the American Society for Testing and Materials and the CPSC.

Just the ticket for the novice carpenter! My instructions show step by step, how to build a great playset for your family. I'll include plans for a swingset add-on, inclined rock wall add-on, and picnic table add-on.  I've refined my specs for maximum wood usage. You'll find there is little waste. The mental effort will be within minimal limits while the physical limits will be worth it when the kiddo's are swinging for the stars.

Any type of wood can be used. Check with your local lumber professional for types appropriate to your climate. Lumber cost will vary depending on the wood you choose. Please use the wood list to get approximate cost in your area.

If you have a playground manufacturer close by, all components from other companies will fit my design. This can save you the costly expense of shipping a slide. You can also use slides and swings from Lowe's, Home depot, etc. You can also find everything you need on Ebay. Approximate build time 18-22 hours. Total cost using pressure treated lumber and accessories available from most home improvement stores will run $1000-1200.

I’m in the process of updating the Gemini plans. My copier took a dive and I’m forced to send out plans in a PDF format that are less in quality than I would like to send out. The plans are great, just not pretty. I’ll included a bonus set of monkey bar plans to make up for the quality. I think you’ll be able to see the difference between the monkey bar plans and the Gemini plans.
