DIY Triton Wood Fort/ Swingset Plans
Use my do-it-yourself plans to make this cool
fort/ swingset and beyond!
Designed
in my backyard for bigger yards and greater adventures.. The
Triton was born in Houston, TX. ("Space City USA") While American astronauts
and the endeavors they represent inspired me, I named this one after the
largest moon of Neptune. When I was a kid, planets didn't have moons. Too
cool and what a great name! Once you see your child rocket through the
galaxy, swing through the jungles of the Amazon, or find treasure in the
sandbox, it will be easy to see how a playset can help your children develop
imagination skills, confidence, coordination, and physical agility. This
playset plan is the most versatile and provides the best options for add-ons
that appeal to older climbers.
My Triton Do-it-Yourself Fort/ Swingset Plans
Do Not Include Lumber, Slide, or Hardware.
The Triton Fort Design Features:

5' deck height with the ability to add more climbing features in the future. |

5' x 6' platform deck gives your kids 30 sq ft of elbow room. |

Over 6' headroom from deck to peak of canopy. |
|
Top rail is 9' high. Peak of canopy is 11'6" high. Conforms to most deed restrictions. |

Designed for a 10' slide. Ladder instructions are included. |
|
Optional swingset add-on mounts at 8' for lots of swing action in a larger area. |

Optional sandbox area or add a picnic table. |
|
All wood a-frame design with 4" x 6" swing beam. |

All recommended hardware is heavy duty 1/2" or 3/8" carriage bolt or hex bolt. |

Designed for durability, strength, and peace of mind. |

Approximate build time 11-14 hours for a fort with three swing positions. |

Easy to move. Breaks down into movable pieces and easy to reassemble. |

Slides, swings, and accessories are easy.. You can find slides, swings, and a variety of quality playground accessories at Backyardfunandleisure.com. If you have a playground manufacturer close by, all components from other companies will fit my design. This can save you the costly expense of shipping a slide. Total cost using pressure treated lumber and accessories available from most home improvement stores will run $800-1000.
Any type of wood can be used. Check with your local lumber professional for
types appropriate to your climate. Lumber cost will vary depending on the wood
you choose. Please do not call me to get the price of the lumber. Use the
wood list to get approximate cost in
your area.

Just the ticket for the novice
carpenter! My instructions show step by step, how to build a great playset
for your family. I'll include plans for a swing set add-on, accessory arm
add-on, inclined rock wall add-on, and picnic table table add-on.
I've refined my specs for maximum wood usage. You'll find there is little waste.
The mental effort will be within minimal limits while the physical limits will
be worth it when the kiddo's are swinging for the stars.
The Story of the Triton Fort
The
Triton Fort/ Swingset also had humble beginnings.. It was my second fort
design. This was not a typical frankenstein fort. After making several of
the initial Endeavor designs, the Drozd family comes along and wants one
bigger. I liked the challenge and made the first Triton. I called it the,
"big fort". Can you feel the creative flow? This ended up being the fort
made to replace the one I sold from under my son's nose. You can see
his smiling face with a group of his neighborhood friend's to the right. I
won't lie.. I sold this one too.
Don't
hate... I promise, he's had about 20 forts in his life. Each time I sold one
I made a bigger and better one. The family who bought that
first "big fort" sent me a friend and I made another one. Soon I made another
and each time one was made, the design was refined. The Triton ended up
being the flapship fort/ swingset design. Like the Endeavor, word traveled
fast. Before I knew it, the Triton began to dominate and has made many
families happy. Over the
years, I'd put together many DIY kits for families and found the instructions
to be difficult at times. It occurred to me that knowledge was power! I could
utilize my experience to write a plan for a clean, easy to build, easy to move,
and inexpensive playset.
