Jack's Backyard Timber Frame Designs by Jack S. Bowser
This is my biggest project ever. It's way bigger than it looks. Most playset projects I build are on a regular budget. I was given room to go all the way with this project. The average custom swingset I build costs $2500-3200.00 and takes 2-3 weeks to build, once I start. This one took almost 4 months. Master carpenter's dream of getting jobs like this one.
It's heavy. The construction utilized large timber framing. 6" x 6" post, 4" x 6" supports, custom laminated 2" x 12" rafters, and more custom parts were used to construct this monster fort. All fasteners used were stainless steel.
It was a snap together structure. It was built it in a warehouse and moved in large pieces. I hand cut and chiseled 95% of the half laps, dovetail laps, and other various interlocking pieces. Rock walls, wall panels, and 1000 other things were handled by other talented craftsman. When it was delivered, it locked together like a puzzle. The fasteners were a formality.
