Create Beautiful Usable Art
In the process of woodworking, it's common to have wood waste, mistakes, and reclaimed wood from old projects. These things are made from a desire to make something from nothing, to create space in my shop and to have some fun. All of the items you see in this section of my website are made from old swingsets, playhouses and spare parts from my custom playset and treehouse projects.
Get Inspired and Create
This page is not only meant to showcase my creativity, skill and craftsmanship, but to inspire you to follow my example, do your part to save what you can and make useful things for people to enjoy. There is really nothing better than converting one man's trash into your treasure.
In the near future, I'll convert some of these hobby projects into do-it-yourself manuals to be used as easy woodworking projects for boy scouts, an opportunity for a family to spend some time and learn something together, or just to make something because you like it or need it. |
Overcome AdversityYou don't need to be a master carpenter to build what you see here, however common sense and the ability to read a tape measure is certainly helpful. Being a self taught wood worker my failures are balanced with my successes, however, sometimes the worst mistakes end up delivering the best results. My long awaited "Adirondack Chair" project was finally on my shop table, but an early mistake in two of my cuts finished that plan before it started. My frustration at my loss of time and energy lead to using all of the parts to make a frankenstein chair. Later that day the "Franky Chair" was taken apart and refined into a really nice quality chair. The two pics below show the chair before and after.

Be Courageous and InnovateNothing you see here is really for sale. If you just have to have it, want to market it, or want to put me on payroll, I might be available. I have an excess lumber supply and and have discovered the fun involved in using the smallest piece of scrap to make something useful. Unfortunately, the time involved in making things from recycled wood takes time and is not profitable enough to make a living on. So most of this was for fun and hopefully will inspire you to start your own project
