Redwood and Cedar Treehouse Models

As it turns out, most of my hobbies end up being a lot of work and countless hours are spent in my shop working on paid projects. Sometimes it's just good to get away and do something that's really has no purpose other than to make me smile. The models you see here take me away to a time when fun was my purpose. It's easy to imagine being up in the top of one of these structures and being able to see for miles around or sitting in the treetops and reading a great book.

My First Treehouse Model

It seems to be the case that when you build these super cool treehouses for other people, you never have the time to build one for yourself. This is absolutely true in my case. There is always a moment standing in a completed treehouse when the daydreaming starts to creep in and my thoughts travel to my future treehouse. These treehouse models really get the creative juices flowing and are a great way to visualize a plan.
This particular treehouse model would be my optimum design for a treehouse deck to be used as an outdoor living area. It's designed with a bedroom area in the loft and a huge 16" x 16" living area that's accessible through a trapdoor entry. In a real world setting the kitchen and bathrooms would be at ground level.

Carter Family Treehouse Model

The concept of tabletop treehouse models was developed mostly as a sales tool to help a potential treehouse client see what the real finished product might look like when complete. These models also serve the purpose of working out design, materials, and the engineering of the actual tree house build before I start. It's also a way to use my ever growing supply of used wooden swingsets that I'm always trying to find a use for.

The Carter Family Treehouse is a perfect example of making a scaled model and then bringing it to life in a real setting. The roof was my own little twist and did not make it to the actual project.

If you've ever dreamed of having your own treehouse, but don't have the trees or the budget to get what you want, now is your chance. At the urging of friends and family, I have decided to offer these wonderful works of tree art in table top form that doesn't require a tree or any real estate. These are custom made for you and will reflect your childhood or adult dreams. For complete information visit OtterWorks USA.
